Poem: The City Lights

The City lights

Shine like stars

Below the tower

Above the sky

They remind me I’m not alone

No one is ever alone

In this bleak world

But someone is always there

To help, to hug, to hold

Its the nights I cry

I look up to the sky

And down to the city lights

And remind me

Darkness is the only thing that

Can bring out the light

As I stare out at the city lights

That shine like stars

Below my isolated tower

Above the sky

  1. This is so lovely – I can relate to it when I was younger. I used to love the song “Down Town” by Petula Clark – it was so true a walk down town or a view of city lights – can make you feel cheery. Hope you are not too lonely for long.
